The Destroyers of All

Ippocalyptica Another masterclass in dissonant and oppressive death metal, all of my extensive praise of Everything is Fire applies nearly equally here, with EiF being preferred because it established the Ulcerate template (often imitated, never replicated) that was only slightly expanded upon with The Destroyers of All. The song craft here is extremely mature, technically-proficient, and well-executed, and I have seldom heard better use of dynamics in death metal. Absolutely essential listening here. Favorite track: Burning Skies.

Cln Dschmps This album is the ultimate musical expression of an implacable apocalypse. It feels like witnessing the final hour of a total cataclysm, gazing at the scenery from the top of a mountain : helpless in the face of this overwhelming doom, we surrender, completely mesmerized and soothed by it's absoluteness. Mind blowing musicianship and technicality, adequately serving a deep and rich sensitive experience. Favorite track: The Destroyers Of All.

Andrea D'Aiello A void of overwhelming brutality and darkness. Masterpiece. Favorite track: Dead Oceans.

about

Ambitious, oppressive and expansive, with a strict adherence to the tradition of total bleakness the band is becoming known for, The Destroyers of All presents the most atmospheric and challenging listen from the band to date.

"Come dawn, no light will be thrown on them
This vermin, these ingrates
Us of the earth
The destroyers of all"

Ulcerate Auckland, New Zealand

Auckland, New Zealand-based unorthodox death metal act Ulcerate was formed by guitarist Michael Hoggard & drummer Jamie Saint Merat in 2000, with the aim of creating, dark oppressive death metal. This focus has since developed & metamorphosed into a far more dynamic approach with a fully realised sense of atmosphere & mood, while furthering their foray into the darker end of the genre’s spectrum. ... more
